When we talk about “living for the moment,” we’re usually referring to acting on our immediate desires. In a social media era, It’s been a while since people showed that they are working toward a greater legacy.
Your legacy is the thing that will grant you your lifetime freedom.
Freedom is not the ability to act on any given impulse, it is the ability to choose what you want to act on, and why. It is not the absence of commitments, values, or discipline, it is the ability to choose them at will.
Your legacy allows a deeper root planted in your freedom, to remind you and assure you why you deserve to live your best life, and leave remnants of it here, for greater good.
Life isn’t always supposed to be rosy, but it also shouldn’t be curated in a sense where you never encounter growth.
The best ways to find yourself navigating through the tough moments of adulthood, remembering the reason you are working so hard, can give you the extra push you need when you’re running low.
There is a deeper, more profound peace that comes from working toward building a part of yourself in the world, rather than building your life around catering to your senses’ immediate desires.
In 2018, I challenge you to remember your greater good. Keep yourself focused and centered and flourish.
